

Emerald, EPC 1000 consists of 33 sub-blocks covering an area of approximately 138 km². The permit is situated on the western edge of Bowen Basin, which hosts a cluster of famous coal deposits including the Valeria deposit to the north west of the tenement.
Previous exploration conducted by CRA and Rio Tinto from 1970 to 1982 included open hole drilling programs identifying thin coal seams which were sparsely intersected less than 2 metres thick. Coal quality is in high calorific value, low ash with high moisture and sulphur content.
